Nice shot Phil, I agree with you about the leg iron but there again this is the BTO's way of monitoring movements & life span, sometimes I question is ringing of common species necessary?

Enthusiastic ringers, hmm, almost as good as trying to get a picture of a red kite without a tag

Actually I don't think it detracts too much from the image as I've not seen a ringed blue tit before it actually shows something a little different.

Fantastic shot, and the ring adds to the interest. As someone working in this field, it is often the marking of common animals that tells us more than marking the rare ones. I am glad you did not cheat and airbrush it out.
