20D, 400/2.8 + 2x, ISO200, 1/320 @ f11 EV -2/3, AF + MF hybrid (AF into the ballpark, fine tuned manually), Gitzo + BH1 at ground level, C1pro + CS2.

Hi,

A quick post from my laptop as I am away at the moment, as spring is on its way, spent a bit of time scouting for possible locations for the mating ritual.

Sits well in the composition. Those colours are superb & you have captured the pose so well...they are a class act as is this image.

Very nice Phil. Slightly dark on my monitor. Been checking out the Grebe locally as well. Is now the time for the rituals?

Graeme.. yes it is slightly dark, posted from my laptop now that I can see it on my main computer when resized for the web the compression has darkened the midtones, make a note to check in the future...

Yes we are getting very close to the display time..

Hi Phil,

I've looked at this image several times now and the more I view it the more I like it.
A beautiful bird which is shown off to great effect by that calm water.
What I find particularly appealing about this image is how well the brown coloured water suits the subject,makes a change also from the more usual blue water usually seen.

A top shot,IMO.
