Thanks for taking the time to visit my portfolio.
Despite my own personal preferences or bias i will attempt to display a wide range of image subjects and styles so that hopefully there will be something to suit all (or most) tastes.
The vast majority of my 'wildlife' images will be set-ups with captive animals (except for Kenya and India images), a very humble and genuine hats off to those that can achieve their results with proper wildlife.

I will not set out to deliberately hurt feelings but I do believe in what i refer to as "The Josey Wales approach"
Obviously we will sometimes take an image in less than perfect conditions but this should not be given as an excuse for simply bad photography. I love to see 'considering it was windy / raining / through glass / from a high-speed train...' Similarly 'but we do photography for fun with like-minded friends' is an excuse of equal merit - why not go out and do properly planned and executed photography for fun?

If i do vote for your image or award a UA then be assured it is because you / your image deserves it - not because i like the subject / we are friends / you have been on my course / your favourite cat exploded last week.
I believe that the person that says they know it all, simply does not realise how much there is to know - I, for one, am still learning (or hope I am).
I would far rather receive a seemingly harsh but 100% genuine, knowledgeable critique than a pandering clueless one. A personal thanks to those that have already done this - esp members Pudd64 and Johnke.
I have fortunate enough to experience some great photography training and some fabulous (though sadly perhaps one-off) photographic trips.
You will note that i now run my own occasional photographic workshops (but this is NOT my full-time or main occupation) - please do not let this (or the tone above) put you off contacting me for any guidance, i work regularly with epz members on tips and ideas and do have a number of tuition documents available FREE for those genuinely interested.
I appreciate a little peace and quiet now and again, but I am definitely more a sociable photographer and, as well as trying to encourage outings with our local camera club, have also met with a number of epz members to offer a little one-to-one advice or simply share an experience.
If that photography experience culminates with a 'quick half' before home than even better.
regards phil
