This is a tweaked version of a previous upload taken at Brimham Rocks in North Yorkshire.

Having seen some great comments and modifications by the Critique Team I thought it was time be brave and get some much needed advice.

I am also looking forward to upgrading to my first DSLR later this week

All comments welcome.

Your a brave man Phil, - a Critique and a new DSLR in the same week!

Its good your upgrading, - looking at your portfolio you have a good eye for a shot, - I especially like the one of the girl.

Anyway, - back to this one. I think you original, pre tweaking shot is a better overall shot, but can do with improvement in a couple of areas. Ive used you original upload to modify, and Ive uploaded 2.

I see what youve done with your mod is add a warm tone, and cropped from the left.

I woull suggest leaving the left in, crop from the right, and add height to the shot so the "horizon" is not in the middle, - its on a third. I did this by increasing the canvas size vertically, and cloning in the sky, - since its all blue at the top, this is quite easy to do. The foreground interest is in the large rock on the left, hence the suggestion.

The other suggestions are to sharpen some more, - you need to do this when you re size the image, - and increase contrast and colour saturation a little more.

The second mod has a lot more contrast added in the sky especially to deepen the sky colour.

Hope this helps, and look forward to your DSLR shots.

Regards

Willie

Thanks for the comments Willie and I love the mods, especially the second with the deeper blue sky. The girl is actually my daughter who is quite photogenic so I'm sure I will upload more shots of her in future.

Cheers,

Phil
