Another as-built photo from a major refurbishment of a raw water pumping station. On the left is the new motor control centre comprising 4 no. 750kW variable speed drives. On the right is the old panel it replaces. Unfortunately we couldn't remove the old one as it still controls various valves.
This was taken on a tripod using 10s timer so that I had time to walk to the other end of the building and then start walking back.
Comments and ideas most welcome.

Hi Phil,

Why did you take this shot?

I would suggest that this is about perfect for what it is, an industrial shot. I would suggest that it is a bit busy up top and a crop wouldn't really detract from the image and what you are trying to show. This would then make the image a little less busy. Otherwise a very good well taken shot.

Thanks, Willie, I have learned my lesson that having a person in these shots really helps, even if it has t be me!

Dave, this is a project I have recently completed at a pumping station and the idea was to produce an as-built record of what we have installed. These type of shots are usually quite boring so I am trying to create images that catch the eye a bit more so that we can 'show off' what we have built. My aim is to get them published in company magazines and displayed in offices. This is going quite well at the moment.

Dave, forgot all about your mod: at first I wasn't sure about the crop at the top but having looked at it about 4 times I do believe it is a stronger composition so thanks for that.

Another nice pic Phil and this time - a self portrait!

Personally I like the inclusion of the A/C ductwork as it is an essential ingredient of the building's environmental equipment. Most of my projects included A/C work so maybe I am biased toward the inclusion, but as I said it is an integral part of the completed works. To be fair, Dave's mod doesn't eliminate the ductwork and so the composition can be improved by that slight crop.

The verticals are plump, the floor tiles are spot on the 10mm FL has done you proud and so you have, in my opinion, a superb industrial shot here for your 'As Fitted' handover documentation as well as for your personal portfolio.

Many thanks, Frank, I thought you would appreciate this. Initially I felt the same as you regarding Dave's mod but after a while I realised that chopping off the top of the damper didn't really matter and overall it did improve things.
