The new fotbridge in Castleford.
As this is quite close I can easily go back and try something different if anyone has any suggestions.
This is my first attempt at black & white as it seemed to work better on V1. I also applied it to V3 because of the bright clothing worn by the people on the bridge. For both I applied a b&w preset in Elements 7
V2 I want to try again in lower light or in the dark.
f/5, 1/400s, ISO 80

Thanks Frank,

I can't ever seem to get the issue right over whether or not to include people! Hopefully I can satisfy both camps with the 3 versions offered.

Three good images - the colour a little 'ordinary' but both the mono very well done indeed.

The people issue is always interesting. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. No. 1, for example, is very good as it stands, but a suitable figure, top right, would also make a good shot.

Remember - technically, you must get it right - the subject is up to you - if you like it, care not what others think!

V1 is a very good shot. The conversion works well, and the composition is great, with the curve disappearing on a third.

Theres enough details and interest in this to work on its own.

Experiment with the channels adjustments for b&w conversion, you will have a lot of control over the end result.

V3 is also quite good, and V2 is a more of a holiday snap.

Regards

Willie

Thanks for the comments Paul & Willie. I suspected V2 was the weaker shot but I decided to upload anyway. I'm pleased the mono's worked well and glad you enjoyed them.
Cheers,
Phil

V1 is excellent, strong curves and lines, well suited to mono. How low would you have to go before the tops of those houses disappeared? It's just that they interfere with the lines of the bridge for me. I know we have a cloning tool, but you said you could go back. You might get some strange looks, but don't we all?
Pamela.

Funny you should say that Pamela. I checked that the coast was clear before laying down to take the shot. When I got up there was a bunch of people waiting to cross. I just smiled, put my head down and got back on my bike.
I will return and try out your suggestion.
