Heage Windmill (Derbyshire) by mhfore Good composure with depth and lovely colours and tones. |
An evocative shot, well caught. The empty houses on an abandoned island in the sunshine is evocative of a past golden age which was, in the scheme of things, as fleeting as the brief sunshine that was used to capture the 'moment' so well. It also illustrates the fact that a good telephoto zoom is essential in taking landscape photographs - which goes against the oft used adage that for landscapes you need a wide angle lens. It also shows that you had your eyes open and your brain in gear. |
a peaceful place by saltireblue Great shot. Perfect and imaginative use of depth of field. The tree and the background are out of focus but the gravestone and the lower branches, which are in line with the stone, are in sharp focus. This really concentrates the eye on the main object of the picture, the stone, but puts the whole thing in its locational context. |
Point of Stoer, Eddrachillis Bay by saltireblue Drama! I like the sunlight in the mid ground and as has been said the small cottage, which is catching the light, gives the whole picture a sense of scale and grandeur. Well done. |
Bla Beinn... by Scottishlandscapes Great choice of foreground. |
I just love this shot. Great colours, a striking picture. |
Hello Mark |
Pottery seller in Rajasthan by NickParry Good eye contact, good lighting, good colours - good shot. |
Good frozen action. The reds stand out well against the almost monochrome water. |
white tube by ZenTog What a great shot. This deserves many more votes. |
staithes n cowbar by steviehutch It's bold, it's brash, it's got creels in it. It gets my vote. |
What more can I say, I agree with the above... |
Nice lighting. Why didn't you shoot in portrait mode though? |
