Found in a museum , no not a road works museum but nearly so just had to grabbashot and to ask who remembers this little beastie?

Does it belong on a narrow boat at all. (used in tunnels)

When I was but a lad, they used lamps like this for the 'Head Code' on trains, the position of the lamps denoting the type of train, goods, passenger etc.
