A few weeks ago, I dropped and damaged my Sigma 17-70. Today UPS turned up and there was my favorite walk around lens straight back from Sigma. Had to try it out and yes i reckon its OK.
After taking the shot it occurs to me that it shows the end of season well - With a promise of things to come.
Tell me what you think please.

I have been considering buying one of these lenses, but the one with f2.8 throughout the whole focal range. Also looking at 70-200 f2.8, not sure which one to get but this is an excellent advertisement for my first thought.
A good crisp clear and well composed image, although it is worthwhile looking at a square crop for this picture as an alternative, because as you know, you can often use a central image within a square composition.
Your shutter speed will ensure that hand holding works and good DoF with f7.1. Well done a very good picture uploaded.
I will upload a mod with a square crop but it will reduce the picture quality given your image started off in the minimum size possible and I have had to increase the size manually.

Thank you Frank, hope this helps with your lens decisions. I cannot find you upload of the square version, I am new to this site and navigation is still a little strange to me.
Had a look at your website and notice you hail from Liverpool. Nina (my wife) and I went there to photograph the Tall ships in 2007 it was very memorable, especially as I had my first DSLR, a Pentax K100dt on it`s first outing.

Glad you had a memorable visit to Liverpool although since getting married 51 years ago we have lived across the water in Wirral. You know "Ferry 'cross the Mersey"
