Almost in answer to a prayer this goldfinch came and sat within two yards of me I could almost have touched it, this shot is pretty much full frame with very little cropping and in fact for my 300 lens he was almost too close and I didnt have to wait long I got the one shot before he returned half an hour later unphased by me he sat and enjoyed picking the thistle to pieces for ages but most pics had movement and were even too close.
Many thanks for all c/c's on yesterdays upload as always I am very grateful.

To those who wait Ann. What a difference not cropping makes Smile
Excellent plumage detail and eye and a first class bg.
Did you get any without the convertor on? as you say he was too close to give more room and show a little more of the thistle.

I didnt try taking the convertor off as I didnt think he would stay if I made any noise whatsoever - I was also watching a nutty for which I would have needed the tc

The first time I wnet out with a 400mm lens to the park, a blue tit came up to it. I was unable to focus as it was too close but I could have hit it on the head with the end of my lens.

The detail is excellent and sharp in the right place

Beautifully sharp and well focussed around the head and eyes Ann. A lovely opportunist capture. Well done indeed. Hope you got the Nutty you were waiting for. Where was this by the way. In your garden??
