The compostion is absolutely superb and Im not sure if you have noticed but the inside of the curled reed has 3, possibly 4 empty nymph cases from which this Banded Demoiselle would have emerged from....Excellent Capture

Strong, unusual composition, with the nymph cases as added bonus. I'm glad you didn't get in closer - this is a picture rather than a textbook illustration.

Sorry Ann but I have to disagree with this comment, it is far from sharp. As a natural history shot the composition is spot on but for detail that is where it lacks.

Ann, you have done well with this, and well done on the award...Richard... go take a break, if you cannot say anything 'nice' why bother at all? you just cannot help yourself can you?

I think you have made a good capture here Ann and I love the curve of the leaf. Perhaps would have taken out that little bit in the bottom rightand corner though.
Joan.

I'd like to add I compliimented the composition Lillian but it sickens me with all the people who say nice when they should be truthful. If I posted an oof image people would say so. What I say Lillian you say nice to get votes back, it doesn't wear with me, this is a photographic site where learning takes place not a social gathering

I like the comp a lot Ann and also the Damsel Fly's pose and colour but have to agree with others that the detail is not as sharp as it should be.

Very well taken Ann, it's a pity you couldn't have got closer up as you'd have captured much more detail. With 150mm macro you should be able to get much closer without scaring him away!
