I visited Andoversford Hawk Sanctuary yesterday, the light was not best - I have a new lens 80-400 Nikon but couldn't get it to attach to the camera (should have done this at home) I didnt want to miss all the photo opportunities so used my 18-70 which was not really up to the job but better than nowt, tried a few in flight shots and normally they all turn out rubbish but 3 yesterday I managed to save and thought I would show you today - after the break and before the 2pm display I attached the new lens
and all the shots are rubbish (well most of them anyway) Many thanks for all c/c's on yesterdays peek a boo image and to AndyLea for his UA which made my day having failed badly with some of my attempts at the H.S. Thank you all.
Today I shall try and catch up with your images that I missed yesterday ![]()

v1 is nicely caught against a dark background, Ann, and with some good movement in the wings.

nice try ! as i know only too well it not an easy exercise
Yes the light is so rubbish lately.
I have found with new lenses that time is needed to get used to the best way to use them and just handling them.
The lens I hired this week was so heavy that flight shots were really difficult BUT if I ever got something in the frame there was a difference in the capture ...so stick at it and it will come.
My one and only stab at a display (flying )was a complete disaster...no matter what lens I tried so well done.
