About Me
I now work for the RSPB in the north of Scotland, where amongst other things I run Tollie Red Kites, the Red Kite feeding station just north of Inverness. I've not given up photography completely as I still lead the occasional photo walk on the reserves.
I started my working life as a Collier for the NCB at Rossington, Yorkshire. I then saw the light and joined up, just in time as all the pits were closed a couple of years later. Served 22 years in the Royal Air Force all in the photographic trade, serving in Northern Ireland, the Gulf, the Balkans and few other places that I would have to kill you if I told you about. Used to work as a freelance photographer in the highlands of Scotland, ended up doing more teaching than taking which was fine by me as it allowed me to take photographs of what I wanted to and not what I had to.
Outside of photography my other passions are history, especially the First World War, I had a book 'The Regimental Warpath 1914 - 1918' published in 2008 it covers the British Infantry Order of Battle in the First World War, go on buy one you know you want to. I also enjoy watching (now) rugby - Doncaster Knights, drinking whisky and the great outdoors. Living in the north of Scotland is good for the last two but not very good for seeing the Donny games.
