147 (223)........This is a way of dodging and burning that I learn't from the NAPP website that makes the PS tools look ancient.
Create an empty layer above your image, and fill it with 50% grey. Change the blending mode to overlay, and your image should appear unaltered.
Make sure you foreground and background colours are set to black and white, and using the paint brush, paint onto the 50% grey layer. Painting with black burns the image, and the white lightens it. By altering the brush's opacity you can control the strengh of the effect.
When your happy, just flatten the image.
This processis for Photoshop, but I am sure that other software has the same features.
Have fun, you will never use the dodge and burn tools again.
