Baul is a group of mystic minstrels from villages of Bengal belonging to a syncretic religious sect which has a long a musical tradition. The music presented by these people have great traditional value in the history of Bengal. A baul would sing about celestial love expressed for his life partner in very simple and earthly terms. At one time, one could hear a distant baul with his one string instrument singing a mystic tune as he walks down the mud laden path of a village in Bengal.
