Image of a 4month old very rare white lion cub at a local wildlife rescue.

These lions are nearly extinct, it is believed that there are fewer than a dozen in the wild today. This was one of a pair located here. They are not albinos but are leucistic a skin condition resulting in reduced pigmentation.

As to the image, the difficulty with focusing so as to eliminate the very small bars of the pen presented quite a challenge.

Yes Peter, it is quite sad that these beautiful exotic creatures are dangerously close to extinction. I do not know the story behind how this rescue center obtained them, but they have a solid reputation for returning animals back to the wild or to excellent zoos. There were both male and female cubs here, so some chance they might eventually have offspring.
