Another bee (I think) this time on one of our two buddleia bushes. I am not keen on buddleia but it does attract the insects. Problem is, they always land on the high up flowers and my other half has planted potatoes underneath it. So, don't tell him, but I have been trampling all over his garden to try to get close enough to get a few shots. I will blame the cats!

Cats trampling ???....If you can get away with that
Great shot Well worth the effort
Good close up. Thanks for your comments on my bee shot. You mentioned you were going to put a macro shot on your wish list. I got my zoom/macro lens very cheap. It's not that dependable but it was about $140/£70. With patience, however I have been able to get some good results.
Full on head shot...great detail and hard to get as they move so fast...

I think an insect on a flower is one of the most difficult subjects to photograph. First of all, since insects, Thank God, are small, in order to fill the frame, close-up focussing is required, restricting the depth of field. Secondly, (a) insects move. And, secondly, (b) flowers move. (Now, I don't mean that all flowers have this triffid trait, rather that, au naturel, all flowers move in the wind.) This movement means fast focussing is required. In other words, in my opinion, focussing on an insect on a flower is very difficult. Furthermore, I think that this is an understatement.
I think you have coped very well with this difficulty in this photograph.
