This is a lake depicting peace and tranquility. We should hope that this lake should be a sign of the coming year 2010 which should fill the world with peace and joy. So, hope for the best 'New Year'!!!!!!!

Nice shot Raj but it needs a touch more contrast and perhaps a lower viewpoint to give it some extra punch. The rock at the waters edge could have been a really good bit of foreground interest leading out to the still water and reflections of the lake at the same sort of angle to give the clifs another lead in to the photo. Otherwise a really nice shot

Here are the December "NEW" competition results:-

1st Place and the winner of £50 of Warehouse Express vouchers:
BethanfromEbbw. Taking the moon from the box. This is a fabulous interpretation of the theme. The manipulation has been done brilliantly - it must have taken ages to get just right – Congratulations!

Supershot. A New Path - The composition and execution of this image is excellent. The exposure is spot on and the interpretation good. Overall we felt this was a worthy 2nd Place, winning a Euro Hike Walkie Talkie set – Courtesy of sut68.
The image of the tornado is beautifully caught. We liked the angle and the way it fills the frame.

Dancing Queen. Your new phone. We loved the way you’ve included the wrapping paper and the way the screen is lit up so we can see the date. This is awarded 3rd Place and wins a Photo Album – Courtesy of rowarrior
Dawn - the dark clouds in the background reflected by the dark rocks in the foreground, it is a beautiful scene.

UBOAT. We loved the bleakness of the snow-filled pano and the whirling snow just added to the scene. The second pano of Rannoch Moor had bags of drama - lovely colours and reflections with great clarity and so is awarded 4th Place winning 3 months e2 membership – Courtesy of csurry

Jonah794. The bud is beautifully clear and I like the diagonal composition of the stem. Also the background is well blurred. We are pleased to award this 5th Place, also winning 3 months e2 membership – Courtesy of csurry
New Life – What a pretty baby, beautifully captured with super catchlights.

Cameraboy. The froglet must have been so tiny, yet you managed to capture the eyes beautifully sharp - not easy when tiny creatures don't stay still for long. We are delighted to award this 6th Place, winning 3 months e2 membership – Courtesy of EPZ
We loved the idea of a New Year resolution – and it was exposed well but did think the background was a bit too fussy.

Woolyback. The little lamb is so sweet. We liked the way it's looking straight down the camera - a baby with attitude and are pleased to award this 7th place, also winning 3 months e2 membership – Courtesy of EPZ.
The baby seal is also lovely! The details are good and you’ve got great eye contact.

Digitalgirl Dad's new shirt. There is so much in this image, the colours are wonderful. We like the way you have also included a card, just to make sure we know whose shirt it is so we have awarded this 8th Place winning a card reader – Courtesy of EPZ.
We liked the lovely colours and composition of your lava lamp image.

RhysHerbertPhotography. The image of yourself wondering what's in the present really made us smile We liked the expression and the way you have manipulated the image to include yourself in front of the tree and are happy to award this 9th place, winning a memory card – Courtesy of EPZ.
We also liked the little deer, lovely colours and pose.

Dewie. The two hyenas were well captured with super eye-contact. However we felt that the Grebe with the intimacy of feeding its baby fulfilled the theme better and is awarded 10th place, winning a memory card – Courtesy of EPZ

kathersmith The image of the boats was so tranquil and well executed that we have awarded it 11th place, winning an EPZ camera strap.
New car – a super original idea and capturing yourself in the wing mirror was the icing on the cake.

marco_delvalle1 Despite the slightly wonky horizon. the colours of the sunrise image are beautiful and the exposure well controlled. It is a worthy 12th place, winning a 2010 calendar – courtesy of irishman.
The dolphins shot was a difficult one to get right and this was a super attempt with bags of action going on.

Nutsaboutminis – A well timed fireworks shot – lovely colours too.

Chris1998 – The swans are captured beautifully and the touch of pink reflected sky in the water makes this image special.
The mono of Alnwick castle worked well and the reflections were lovely – we wondered if a few lines in the description section might have helped understand how you thought it fitted the theme.

kilo watt - a super interpretation of the theme and a well put together image. The description was comprehensive and helped us to see how you had thought this one through.

AaronGuthrie another lovely panoramic view with description that helped us understand how it fit the theme. We really liked the starkness of this and the sky.

littlejennywren a super viewpoint and great use of the NEW technique.

OliverPhotography – super use of depth of field and a great idea to use probably the most well-known of images as your theme.

HamRogers – We can see it’s new by including the part of the Christmas tree so well done for that. The description certainly helped us in looking at your interpretation. The clarity of the rosebud was lovely and the composition excellent, well done.

jamestheboy – tennis racquet and balls - a super idea to move away from the idea of New being Christmas or the beginning of the year – well interpreted. The image using the mirror was really well thought out and executed.

ad2009 the water droplets image is nice and clear and is also well thought out, a good interpretation.
The moon image is a good one and again the description tells us how it fits the theme.

emiyellow – we loved the beautiful colours and wispy spider webs in the rose family – yet another great interpretation of the theme
The early morning shot in the snow was bright and cheerful and certainly made us smile.

miss_v we thought the image of your sister’s doll was very pretty, but perhaps the colours needed a little tweak to make them more realistic. The image of the tiny mushroom was super. This must have been really difficult to get and you’ve done a great job.

rajsaha001 lovely composition and reflection in the still water. Once again, the description was able to let us know your interpretation of the theme.
We were really amazed at the quality of the entries and your fabulous interpretation of the theme - well done everyone - you made our lives really hard!!

ALSO

I would like to announce that for the next three months (at least) we will be running a Junior Competition towards the end of each month. we will announce prizes, themes and dates at the beginning of each month!
