A true English Lion: Tegenaria Duellica.
I cuaght this beasty just before the spider detected the doomed fly in my garage... It’s a macro safari in there! I dub this common british ‘house spider’ a lion because it treats it’s prey in a similar way… killing it before loosing it. The spider gives a quick bite of venom before ripping the fly’s head off. The head is just to the left of the body. When observing all this through a macro lens it really brings home the brutal and vicious nature of the tiny creatures that we cohabitate with…
