Coreus marginatus, commonly called the Dock Bug, is a species of Squash Bug.

This is a studio shot. My challenge for the day was to mimmick sunshine using continuous lighting without making the insect burst into flames… I custom set the white balance by eye.

I’m thinking that the CGI designers on the movie ‘Starship Troopers’ may have based the main soldier bugs on this type of stink bug?

I would not have guessed that this is a studio shot, lighting looks natural. I've seen bugs like this and never knew what they were.

...It was almost by chance that I managed to ID your shield bug. I spotted just one photo of it mating with a green one which got me very curious?? The article was also in chinese, which added to the confusion...

Thanx for your comments. I was pleased with the results. It was shot using one of my old Microprofile lights which is designed for small scale work. I used to work with claymation...
