I wonder whether many people who work in apothecaries nowadays would know the word for their trade? Even fewer would understand the Latin inscriptions, I suspect.

I did wonder about the genie of the title. It took me a bit to realise the placement of your ghostly hands & camera.

For Bill:- I'd guess at distilled water and then I'm lost despite taking Latin at school a few years ago.
My Latin teacher was known as Doc Dum, how little we learned and absorbed of the classic language
Awesome colours and composition Rende, it take a photographer to spot these still life photos, most would look but not take.
