The Antonov An-225 Mriya (Ukrainian: Dream), NATO reporting name: 'Cossack' is a strategic airlift cargo aircraft, designed by the Antonov Design Bureau in the 1980s. It is the world's heaviest aircraft. The design, built in order to transport the Buran orbiter, was an enlargement of the successful Antonov An-124.

The first An-225 was completed in 1988 and a second An-225 has been partially completed. The one An-225 is in commercial operation with the Antonov Airlines carrying oversized payloads.

Nice research on the plane but it needs more room on the right so it looks like it has room to move into.

Thanks for your comments , Steve. I had to crop this image due to a seemingly very short enthusiat who was up on a ladder to take snaps. The area we were at was absolutly packed with people wanting to see this monster, this was only it's third time ever into Scotland, so had to make do with the best spot i could find.

They just had this plane on the local news here in Calgary. It was here today and I was stuck at work. Sad

Sorry you missed it Johnny, it's a truly impressive sight. It's on it's way to Bangor now and the final destination is Nigeria
