Last one from the east coast, this was taken pre-sunrise at flamborough.

Feel free to give it some C & C as I'm not sure about this one myself

not sure about this one - would it have worked better in horizontal format? The detail and dof are all spot on. The colours look fine and the sunrise has coloured the clouds beautifully.

Great image love the reflected light in the rock pool nice work
Brian..........

cheers everyone,

Mark (Slater) I think that is my problem with it, the comp is too tight on the rockpool - I wish I had experimented with a landscape version. Thanks for the honest crit.

would be interesting to see what a landscape version would have looked like. However, I can't find anything about this that I don't like. The composition seems balanced to me. The pool, with the sky reflected, deserves to dominate the foreground and doesn't appear too constrained. Exposure's good - I like the fact that there's some detail visable on the distant cliffs. Finally I also like the way that the shape of the pool helps draw the eye towards the cliffs and seems to mirror the shape of the clouds to a degree.

So in summary...thumbs up ! Smile

Mike

Maybe it's because I know it so well, but it's crying out for something to wake it up. Despite the red colour and cast it's a little bland in appearance. Nothing in the shot actually catches the eye.

yep, agree with you there keith, I've posted this one as I'm new to seascapes and am trying to learn. I wasn't particularly happy with the composition anyway.

The idea behind it was to capture the colours from the sky in the rockpool - I'll be back there for another attempt at some point!

love this image, and love your portfolio too. stunning work.

cheers nathan, and pete too!

A pleasant image but I fear there is something lacking or maybe the rockpool reflection is competing with the sky too much. Have a look at a crop above the rockpool.
