I joined up with the frans birthday bash party for the afternoon and sunset so off we went on simon palmers magical mystery tour round derbyshire, roads I didn't even knew existed.
The last stop was Roach End farm and we ended up with tripods circling the farm that we discovered.
great afternoon guys, cheers

Know what you mean, Richard!
Simon Palmer's Lonely Hearts Club Band has a better ring to it!
Might have only got the camera out for a wee while, Rich, but you certainly made the most of it!
Erm Wow! This is great Richard, pure class from the L Glass. I thought you were quiet over there on the other side of the wall all on your own, I can see why now. An absolute stonker this is.
That is superb Rich, lovely comp, and some gorgeous colour.
Pity I couldn't make it to the afternooon session!
I kept looking over but you were ahem 'otherwise engaged'
It was a shame we missed each other on saturday martin, might be out in a couple of weeks time if you fancy it?
lol fran, I've not got any others so I can't title the next one that! What happened to your title we discussed?
A stunning capture Richard and congrats on the EC
Nice job and congrats on the EC.
Shame I didn't know about it as I could have met up with you guys.
A truly wonderful shot, with exquisite light - well done on your EC
Stunning, congrats on a well deserved award.
a superb image
That is some shot Richard. Normally I would be very, very impressed, but at the moment I am only very impressed as I am too busy trying to kick myself to spend any more time on being impressed.
Had I been on this side of the wall I still would not have managed this, but cannot help wishing I had at least tried.
Not trying to take anything away from this though as it as a stunning shot and a very well deserved EC.
Just came back to this and you got an EC, Pete obviously loves this place. Well done again Richard.
crikey, cheers pete.
lol Neil, TBH I was quite uninspired at the time and only got the camera out when I saw the sun/clouds combo. This was the only shot I took that I was happy with if that makes you feel better...you got a cracking morning down curbar/padley!
Ah yes Simon, but who discovered it?
Next time I'll give you a shout Paul, you live out in the peaks now don't you?
I'm not sure if it's my monitor, but there seems to be a bit of a brightness behind the tree. Nonetheless, it's a beautifully composed and lit image, and worthy indeed of its EC. Many congrats, Richard.
Very nice image.
I did notice that after I uploaded it and think the sharpening has highlighted the problem. I will sort it before printing it out - cheers for the honesty Ian
I do, indeed. Let me know
Photos like this make me very depressed as I know I wouldn't get something half as good even if I was there......
truly deserved indeed, pete knows his stuff.
This a first class image - well deserved EC!
wonderful shot and congrats on the EC
absolutely stunning Rich!!
I can honestly say that I am not surprised in the least that this has an EC Rich. Very well done, and many congrats, and it is well deserved.
Yes, I would certainly be interested. Let me know a bit nearer the time, and we'll see what gives.
Well blow me ... an EC from the meet ... nice one bud, you did well with this one!!!
will do paul and martin,
I'm a touch surprised myself paul...but chuffed to bits

Just writing the verse, Richard, and since this isn't Curbar, it can wait!
Well done on the EC, guess who'll be sticking their tripod in all your shots next weekend!
Stunning landscape image
Many congrats Richard....'triffic
Brilliant shot, light, and great fg.
looking forward to reading it fran, I'll save a spare hour or two
Well done, superb landscape.
Cheers Neil, and thanks for the award Kevin
Brilliantly done Rich, as the exposure must have been a nightmare. Congrats on the EC too
Well done richard
Classic mate and deserving of the EC
A top shot Richard, comp, subject and light is all great.
like a painting, great feeling of warm colours
It's all been said, Brilliant!
Stunning shot Richard. Congratulations on the EC.
A lot of shots came from this shoot and all feature the wonderfully dramatic and colourful sky. I like this for the balance of elements from the foreground reeds to the derelict barn and then sun. I also feel you've done a grand job of retaining detail in the sun which is difficult when shooting direct into it. The barn is well sized in the overall mix so it's neither lost in the landscape nor too dominant.
cheers for the comment pete, it's nice to know why the award was given
Yes, this is a real beauty for all the reasons mentioned above. And it sounds like you have a great time too.
cracking capture for the reasons given above.... I can see what Ian means with the light/sharpening, what method did you use for this ?
I used Keiths 50 50 10 sharpen on the photo to bring out the definition, but it's put too much contrast between the tree and sky
Anyway, removed that layer and it looks fine for print now
ah ha yes know it well...sharpening will be the death of me... I tend to use a 3 stage method as I found the 50 50 10 too punchy, Keith always seems to get it spot on, he must of missed telling me the secret on my last workshop with him ....
Hey this is a bit good Richard, well done on EC
Beautiful and well executed.
well done Rich
