In the north east of Brazil, many people live in houses such as this. Poor quality housing by our standards, they are usually kept scrupulously clean and tidy. No TV, power or any of the home comforts we take for granted, the recession means little to them as life is always hard.

Is this made of cob? (earth and hay and dung and water). I read that they're better insulation than brick! Impressive build and v.sustainable. Great shot, nice portrait.
