Thanks all. I saw rising birds, I spotted him, I wished that my MB D-10 wasn't in the car (because I was also carrying 80-200 f2.8 and for video and there's a bulk issue) and was cranking at 5fps instead of 8, so it's a kit thing, rather than a great shot (from me anyway - he hit {but then he is an instructor})
