This is one of my fave images. It is not as sharp as it should be but it was taken very quickly, in the rain and more by reaction than careful composition.
It's a "fleeting moment" type of picture.
This was taken on Orkney in June. We had taken a wrong turn on our way to Burgar Hill to see the Red Throated Divers and pulled in to a lay-by to turn around. As the car stopped, a Short Eared Owl landed on the fence, my son switched off the engine and I put the lens through the window (very slowly) and took a couple of shots. We heared a car comming up the road behind us and the Owl also heared it and decided to fly off. Just before he did, a feather drifted into the Owl's view and he seemed quite fascinated by it. I was able to grab this shot. As the passing car got close up, the Owl left the scene.
I felt it was a special moment and for what it's worth, I saved it for my 500th upload. A very big thank you to all who have clicked, commented or just looked at my work. A special thanks to all at EPZ for making it all possible.
Ron.

Just fabulous Ron, the expression on the birds face is perfect, but when you put the whole shot into context, it's a clear winner!......
I asked Pete, to dish out an EC yesterday for someone, I wonder if he'll do the same for this.....Pete?
