Dipsacus Fullonum is more commonly known as Fuller's Teasel or Wild Teasel, and although more of a weed, recently some gardeners have been introducing it into their herbaceous borders.
Growing 6 to 8 feet tall, it is favourite with bees.
My thanks to all for the comments on Brother Cadfael, and with special thanks to Ray {rayme330}, Darryl {carper123} and Julia {NaturesHaven} for their User Awards which are much appreciated.

that is a teasel and half!!!
the wee bee has a big job to get around this one. your well chosen POV shows it as an object in the sky, a planet B perfectly lit in the sunny sky.
Pin sharp and beautiful against the blue sky Ronnie, the visitor is very sharp also, excellent capture!
Regards
Trev.
Great comp and colour Ronnie. Superb quality as one would expect !![]()

I normally only see them as seed heads. You've got a great shape in the frame for this one, Ronnie, the extra bits at the base of the flower (biology not my strong point
) pointing to the corners. Lovely colour contrasts, and the bees knees to top it off.

Good macro low angle leading to a blue sky really makes it pop, good detail well captured

I love teasels, and this is a super close-up, Ronnie, and you've got the added bonus of a bee too, perfectly positioned on the teasel ![]()

Dipsacus Fullonum sounds more like a cough remedy but I'll take your word for it a Teasel it is. Love the wee bee which confirms your caption too Ronnie.

whoah!!!!! awesome image.
and where were you with that bad back of yours ......![]()
I love seeing the teasel flowering, Ronnie. Lovely detailed closeup of its intricacies and spiky bits.....poor bee, having to avoid all those spikes!
A beautiful image of summer, such pin sharp detail and glorious colours. I saw a number of these growing wild at Crickley Hill last week and managed a couple of shots of them with bumblebees on, but nothing as good as this
