I find these Phlox blooms a difficult subject and I am not 100% happy with these but I thought I'd share them with you......their the best of many attempts.
V 1: Inside........a single stem captured in the usual way at the KS studio.
V 2: Out............a clump of the Phlox caught in the last sun of the day and deliberately underexposed.
Many thanks for all the kind comments on From The Burrell and with extra special thanks to Kate {Irishkate} for her User Award.
Ronnie.

Excellent images Ronnie, like the colour and detail in both,
Fred.
Composition lighting and colours are excellent Ronnie, agree that sometimes you are too hard on yourself.
Regards
Trev.
Whilst I understand your difficulty with the outside shot- the inside one is perfect for me.. The light and tones could not be better, sharpness is everywhere. The only trifling point might be the contrast between the green and the black but the I wouldn't know how to mprove this.
As to v2 it is the multitude which puzzles most of us. Where do you crop, how close do you get.
I think your solution to let the surrounding greens disappear is successful , but it must have been difficult to find the right frame.
Two lovely images Ronnie, gorgeous colours and light, definitely V1 for me ![]()

As Barry points out the flower is rather amorphous, although well captured with the darker exposure in v2. v1 was definitely the way to go. Colour, aspect, and presentation very good, Ronnie.

V1 wins for me today Ronnie i like the subtle lighting which has still allowed the petal details to be seen clearly

Well, I'd be 100% happy if these were mine!
Two beauts, Ronnie, think V1 just wins it for me ![]()

V1 for me Ronnie but I like both, lovely detail and colour and I like the presentation as it is,
Geoff.
V1 is a delight Ronnie, lovely composition too coming out of the corner like that.
I have to say that my first reaction was, what the flox is that?
Dougie
V1 looks good to me, Ronnie, but I know what you mean, clusters of flowers aren't the easiest to deal with, and you did the right thing here by isolating one stem.
Two ace images. Lovely colour against the black. Prefer V1 ![]()

Not happy with these, I'd be over the moon if they were mine. You are your harshest critic Ronnie and I see nothing wrong with these at all, they are up to your usual consistently high standards that you've set on here over the years.
