Soundscapes
The drill of the needle as it breaks the skin.
The thrum
of the ECT
machine.
The sandpaper swish of canvas frocks.
Betty's tongue
as it snails
the resident
wallpaper.
The wind riding ice on the hospital roof.
David's sucking on the ribbons of his care packages.
The screaming
from
the
quiet
room.

The next in a series shot at a disused asylum - the Royal Derwent Psychiatric Hospital at New Norfolk, Tasmania.
The images in the series feature examples from a collection of 77 poems penned by Karen Knight, Postcards From The Asylum (published by Pardalote Press). These disarming poems were inspired by Karen's experiences as an inmate at the Royal Derwent in 1969.

Good to have you back Susie, with another great shot.
I've been watching for another one of these.
Best wishes,
Bren.
( I'm still waiting for my copy of Karen Knight's book to arrive.)
