Hospital kitchen

Cook Brenda lets me into her kitchen,
cigarette welded to her bottom lip.

Fallen ash spices up the grey,
watery mince.

As I cut with my plastic knife and fork
through globs of no-brand meat,

the suggestion of blackmail soothes me.

The sixth in a series shot at a disused asylum - the Royal Derwent Psychiatric Hospital at New Norfolk, Tasmania.
The images in the series feature examples from a collection of 77 poems penned by Karen Knight, Postcards From The Asylum (published by Pardalote Press). These disarming poems were inspired by Karen's experiences as an inmate at the Royal Derwent in 1969.

Excellent work.
I've been following this series since the start and it is becoming obssessive. Each day I log on and look for that day's new entry.
Bren.
