Brilliant! Love the clarity and detail! Nice pose too! Ade
Totally superb detail and colours
Great shot - can't help feeling it needs rotating through 90 degrees though.
Great composition, good detail, very well captured indeed.
Susie, what a fantastic shot. Just love those eyes.
very nice shot and great lighting
Thank you each for taking the time to view and comment - your feedback is very much appreciated.
And yep, Chris ... I know what you mean about the rotation!
Wow, very sharp! Nice shot, very well executed indeed.
nice shot & composition
They keep getting better and better!
Nice shot.I love these birds they are natural cartoon charcters & you have captured this one really well. Like the framing too.
I like the shot with the unusual pose. I just wonder if it might be helped if you could remove the other birds from the background ? Then your main subject would really stand out. Otherwise, I agree with the comments previously, good detail and lighting.
Really appreciate your feedback everyone - thank you!
Dave - agreed ... I wanted to blur the background before posting, but as a newbie I have yet to develop PS skills to the desired level. I recently enrolled in a PS course, but regrettably I've subsequently had to cancel due to work travel commitments. :o(
Will certainly fix when I posess the knowhow ... thank you very much for your suggestion - I'm certainly keen to learn all I can!
Those feathers look awesome!
Lovely shot, stands out really well. click
Fantastic capture, Susie. Click
Great shot and detail. IMHO the frame is distracting. John
I disagree about the rotation. It is fine and gives a different result from the 'norm'. I like this a lot. One point.. I am not a great fan of framing images on this site. This is a great shot but loses a little because of the frame. I would suggest don't do frames, Your shots stand out well on there own... IMHO..
Excellent shot Susie,fabulous detail and colours,well done*click*
Susie this is great :o) I love the picture, but I'm also in awe of the quality of these pictures .. this is just so clear and crisp. Excellent .. *click*

Absolutely wonderful, I love it Susie!
fantastic detail rosie. very sharp and like the usual angle of the birds head.
Great sharp detail and wonderful colour, the pose is well caught to make an unusual composition.
Almost graphic in the sharpness of detail - excellent. Very well spotted and captured √ΜΛЯΚ
Thank you so much everyone for your kind remarks and feedback - always appreciated.
Missed this yesterday. An absolutely superb shot!
That's excellent - missed it - really vibrant & sharp - beautiful light.
Outstanding shot, well done.
These birds are fantastic - would love the opportunity to shoot them (with a camera). That eye alone deserves some attention.
That Pelican can shure move around . Like heleecan ) Couldn't resist that . Very sharp and a different portrait .
Thank you Jim, Steve, Richard, Cheryl and Mavis ... appreciate you dropping by!
deserves an award, soooo, INDIGO AWARD , so very original and beautiful, click (*:*)

Luv all your Pelican shots, this one is just excellent!! What great colours!!!
Click to ya!!
Good shot of the bird actually doing something, rather than just being static - well shot. Lighting is very nice too.
This is a brilliant shot. absolutely perfect, love it!
Thank you everyone for your feedback - always much appreciated!
Excellent Susie... Difficult lighting well controlled. Like the colouring and tonality very much...
Portraits of birds aren't really my cup of tea but this is fantastic.
I love the sharp detail and the sharp lines of feathers sticking out.The colours here are also very nice and the eye is unreal!
The exposure is good with no burnt out areas and I like the crop and frame...
The only downside is that the background is a little distracting but I wish I had it in my collection - well done.
Hard to say anything that not has been said, great picture.
Fantastico..Es una fotografa de concurso..Clickk.
Thanks so much, everyone - your impressions are much appreciated ...
What a beautiful shot Susie. Vibrant colour and great crop. PAul
Cheers, Paul - thank you for taking the time to view and comment ...
Excellent shot Susie. The detail and clarity is excellent and going in close like this portrays the behaviour superbly.
Thank you, Justin ... kind of you to take the time to look and provide feedback - much appreciated.
Thanks for the feedback, I really like the striking clarity and sharpness of your pics
Thank you Peter - kind of you to drop by ...
Amazing and wonderful!
Thank you Terry - appreciate your feedback ...
Liking the sharpness, detail, and richly saturted warm tones.
Just a fraction tight on the lefthand crop IMHO, you've given him a bit of a haircut!
As for the background a shallower depth of feild would give the blurring effect that would 'finish' the shot, without the need for a any photshoppery!
Thank you, Mark, for taking the time to view and comment - appreciate your helpful feedback ...
Colours, comp, detail...all excellent.
Thank you, Nic - kind of you to view and comment!
What great detail & comp!!!!
Thank you for dropping by, Thomas - much appreciated ...
Hi Blue eyes...Of all the websites in all the world you at to surf into this one. (He says with a Humphrey Bogart drawl) ! LOL An absolutely marvellous shot and the clarity and composition are amazing. Well seen. You say the bird's preening himself ?
One weensy query Susie being an ex cop with a long nose and still an ace investigator now, on closely examing that's bird's eye in shot, my experience tells me it looks distinctly dead to me !. Is it an expired parrot ? ...(Now using my John Cleese Monty Python Parrot sketch voice) ...Is it a Norwegian Blue ? Lovely plummage ! Are you sure it's not adopted that strange grotesque head position because you nailed it to the perch before shooting it, or is looking like that on account of it being 'shagged out' after a long 'squawk' ?Is it pineing for the Fiords ? I know you Oz women, you twist and turn like twisty turney things ! ROTFL ... Okay ...It deserves a click...click !
Redmist & Ace Bird CSI expert !!
lol after all that, he forgets to click! *sighs and mutters*
Hi Susie...At least you have eyes like a hawk which is more than can be said for that poor expired parrot above what as gone to meet it's maker !!............Click okay :-*) BTW...There'a an exocet of an email heading your way now I'm back.
Worn Out Superman
Love the clarity and the composition
Thank you Jules for dropping by ...
Superb detail and colours.
Thanks so much, Ksenija ...
Was looking at a recent upload of a close up of a pelican and couldn't make it out at all, so have come to look at some of your shots. Settled on this one again to comment - it's such a fabulous pose and detail - and also to thank you for your recent visit.
Still tied up off site with moving house and numerous other things, seems never ending!
Hi there Lydia ... always appreciate you dropping by - and especially given time is such a precious commodity for you right now! Best of luck with the house move - packing's never much fun, but it will all be worth it when soon you're comfortably settled in to your new home ... just make sure you wrap your Waterford crystal and Ming vase collection very c a r e f u l l y !
Wow, the best shot of a pelican on this site, hands down! Congrats.
Thanks so much, Jan ...
