It is in fact a visitor centre. You are now able to walk under the keel of the ship, which, if my memory serves me right, was not possible years ago. It is, of course, highly commercialised now though, and not as I remember. I worked close by for 23 years but have not been back for at least 15 years and things have certainly changed a bit.
