something new for me

something new for meGood capture.

To improve it perhaps a couple of things. Firstly the flowers top left are a distraction, search round the bush for a flower that you can isolate a bit more, and keep the whole background nicely blurred and muted. I think that my own images have improved a huge amount since I started thinking as much about the background as the subject.

Secondly the focus is very slightly off. The sharpest thing in the photo is the leaf edge directly above the flower, and a petal edge on the left again.

It is certainly worth a click and I hope this helps.

Man versus Nature II

Man versus Nature IIFantastic Phil, a better attempt than yesterday, with a lovely sky.

There are a couple of improvements that you could consider.

The main standing stone is just a little too close to the left side of the frame, it almost looks like it's about to fall out.

The other thing I have noticed with these HDR type shots is that where there are still blown highlights they do stand out. There is one area in the sky that still is just a bit too bright, and needed another even darker image to add to the mix.

By the way I'm not sure what is to the left of the first stone bu I might have been tempted to move a little to my right and mage a bit more space between the first 2 stone for the sheep to sit in.

Still love it, and still worth a click.

*Soft Centered**

*Soft Centered**I think you've cracked 'delicate' with this shot, I like the large image too, but it has quite a lot of jpeg artefact in it. It's also less than 100k, a little less compression would have kept a lot of the detail.

Man vs Nature

Man vs NatureI like the idea Phil, not that I can do landscape to save my life Smile.

As you are aware the sky does look faked somehow, and the cause of this is partly the halo around the stone and the tops of the trees. I have no idea how to improve this, I have tried to manually create HDR type images myself in the past with much worse results. Try the free download of Photomatix, it really is remarkable.

I think that the last slight issue with the image as a whole is that whilst the sky has great contrast the stone looks a little flat, I've just had a quick play and increased the contrast in just this part.

Hope it helps

thrush

thrushIt is nice to see a thrush on these pages, I fear there are fewer and fewer these days. It is a touch over exposed, the legs are very white and have lost detail, though the pale feathers are still not blown so it's not way over.

It is a shame about the focus, and a larger aperture would have blurred the detail in the grass out a bit more, but the composition and colour are great.

Well worth a click certainly.
