When I first saw this shot in the thumbnails the tree and dirt looked like an explosion behind the car - hence an appearence by my on a topic I don't usually appear on at all.
My only crit on this shot is that the sky is rather bland - with the lens you have you could try a polarizer to try and get some more colour into the sky. I think for this shot though you were positioned well and knew what you were after!
Agree about the bland sky but its nicely backlit. A better tip would have been to have moved to the left more so that you shot got more of the background trees? into it ... framing the backlit dust and smoke against the trees would have given you a lot more impact. The ideas there tho and it's overall not a bad shot at all.

a polariser wouldnt have done a lot to this shot, with a lighting range like this you would be hard pushed to get an exposure that does well to both car and sky.
I share your love of motor sport photography and was impressed with your portfolio. I would suggest that you branch out more, different aspects of photography and subject matters. overcoming the challenges of more variety will only improve your understanding of photography and ultimatley benefit your sports photography.
