Poor girl looks like she went ten rounds with Mike Tyson, particularly on the thumbnail.
I haven't done much in the way of portraits, & even less with flash, but the head on flash has flattened the contrast, & rather washed out your model's face. The light's too stark.
You got good distance from the background though, so it's dark & doesn't detract from the image.
