The pattern on the water is caused by even more water...the variety we call 'rain'.
It was raining in spades as I took this, and I thank the inventor of waterproof clothing with GoreTex breathing layers for being able to remain at about 90% of 100% soaking wet through.
Isn't photography fun?![]()
I saw this mum and son and just had to get the shot despite taking three days to dry out afterwards. (The waterproofs proved to be only partially waterproof, there is a limit to their abilities to keep one dry!)

Didn't I already say that??
This is as shot, and not a b&w convertion with subsequent colour popping. However, V2 is a b&w convertion.
There are no dust bunnies in the clouds...those are rain drops...king size.
Anyway, many thanks for the comments on 'The Logging Sluices'..I do appreciate your interest.
Many thanks for bothering.
And can someone please send summer in my direction...
Malc

Yes, v2 works best for me as well - we are certainly not getting bored by too many sunny days this summer ![]()

I thought it was grey here, till I saw this image..like both images, maybe v1 with the hint o colour for contrast
The colour has been almost totally lost from the scene in V 1 with the prevailing weather as it was........brave man even with Goretex venturing out with camera.
However you got a great shot, enhanced in composition with the arrival of these two fellow brave souls.
I guess the B and W conversion has brought out a bit more detail in the sky.
Ronnie.
Two good images, a great write up, and some cracking 'tags'. Subtle humour, Malc. Great work all round.
Dave
Well you won the medal for bravery.. But I seem to recall that you are addicted to the same type of mud plugging as myself so I got a fair guess how you got used to it.
Amazingly, these two face that waterscape without a land rover.... And I love this shot. V1!!!
You always get some moisture inside waterproofs but it's usually of our own production. Sweat I think it's called, in really bad weather I try to wear a second waterproof layer inside, layers are always the secret of staying dry.
It always rains in the summer over Scotland we expect it and get excited when it's sunny.

A great capture of this nasty wet stuff, Malc! Think V1 with just the hint of colour has to be my fave ![]()

Great comp' Malc, and it's V2 for me, I never was one for coloured bits in Mono pic's ![]()

It looks like you are having the same kind of Summer as we are and you have captured it perfectly in these shots.
By the way you can keep your Gore-tex completely waterproof if you follow the strange and detailed washing and drying instructions, you know, the ones on the leaflet that came with it, the one you have probably lost by now!
The weather is just like this here too! I think CarolG has kidnapped summer and is holding it to ransom in Crete!![]()
