Inspired by a fellow epz'er, I risked life and limb by bending both knees and back to get down low and taking this image of a piece of very well-oiled machinery. Large bits of solid metal powered by steam ...sexy!

Thanks for all your recent comments...they are appreciated.

Thanks for bothering.

Malc

Perfect use of the reduction of dof by focusing at minimum distance. The strong b&w augments the impression of massive, latent power.
I hope your knees and back have now recovered. I thought mine had - until Monday evening when, after the enforced climb and descent of the Honister Pass, we took a walk into Kendal for dinner. Then I wished I had a walking stick with me Blush
It will be interesting to compare this with my coloured interpretation next week.
Regards
Bill

It's not the getting down that hurts, it's the getting up again afterwards. Creak...
Good one, hard and dark.

Yes, well worth kneeling down, powerful shot, like the contrast created by the whites as well.

Yes Malc.isn't old age a strange thing,
when we think of chunks of oily metal as being sexy ?
Mind you,Cheryl Cole oiling her body on a beach wearing a bikini,
just might change my mind on that one !!

It seems to be catching does this getting down low to shoot images! Wink As Moira says, it's not the getting down, it's the getting back up again - especially hard on the back and the knees! Sad
A great mono, Malc, and good use of depth of field, well worth the effort of getting down low! Wink

This is class Malc - a relatively routine shot made into something really special by the subtle use of the light - top notch
