Woe is me, sob, sob.Sad
First day back at work after 4 weeks holiday. After 28 days of getting up at 08:30, having to creep out from under the duvet at 05:30 this morning was not at all an easy task. Oh, woe is me!Sad
I am trying for the sympathy vote here, but knowing you hard-skinned lot I am wasting my time...Wink

Thought I'd continue our mini tour of the city of Eboracum, or York as the locals call it today.
York has a Minster (no, get away, I hear you gasp), and in said Minster there is an organ.

I give you a high contrast b&w version of some of the knobs attached to said organ. Some keys are there - not too sure if the keys on an organ are called ivories, as on a piano...

Many thanks, one and all.

Thanks for bothering.

Malc

Really good. Calmer, quieter in b&w. I wasn't satisfied with my shots. Though I do have one of you taking this... Wink

Indubitably not. The mere thought of somebody threatening to sit on the stool and tinkle the ivories of the organ would have the Dean and Chapter in a panic, to say nothing of the Bishop. Not good at such a juncture to mention that some of the knobs are in fact couplers.

Good, clear tones and excellent composition, put my meagre attempt to shame. I ditched it even before we walked into the choir Sad

Bill

An organ is a great instrument---- There is a wonderful one where my daughter's family goes to church---- I will attempt to look for knobs and couplers when we visit next---

A well made image of this fine instrument!

There's a certain magic in the swelling sound of an organ in full flight. Your image awakens that sound in my head, so it works for me.
As for getting up for work don't knock it, when you do retire you may find that you miss the regime of work, and the lift when yu realise that tomorrow is a day off, something special that goes when retirement takes over.

On winter mornings the act of turning over when you hear the coughing of car engines starting up and the coughing of their owners too, it holds a certain delicious savour hard to beat.
Ahhhh another ten minutes slumber...

Nice to read that Moira caught you by the organ Malcolm and I bet it was worth travelling to York just for that....

A good abstract and well suited to mono.
