Hi all,
It's been a while, but I have, to say the least, been extremely busy lately.

Finally got to take the 7D out and wield it in anger, and ended up at the local 10 metre diving board at the fjord. That is snow on the ground and ice covering parts of the water.
I had my Speedos with me, but they were not used in anger today. Minus 8c did not tempt me...

Thanks as always for bothering.

Malc

A 10 metre diving board covered in snow... You really know how to attract the tourist trade up there...
Wonderfully weird. I like the way the landings on either side of the steps break the symmetry.

Since it has been plus two here today, minus 8 sounds like a horror story; but I only thaw out at plus 20 Smile
Against the rigid symmetry of the railings the intermediate boards look like giant steps for diver-kind. I rather like the detail asymmetry formed by the footprints and other slight disturbances of the snow; it's kind of contrasting texture to the looming clouds. Excellent use of the format, btw.

Bill

Very wise decision re. non use of the Speedos, Malc. Love the symmetry you gave achieved with this shot, looking well presented in this B and W image.

Way too cold for speedos--- way too cold-- I like the symmetry and the hint of something special at the end!

I like the format you've used; it accentuates the nice low pov. Nice range of tones, and some luscious deep blacks. I'm very much in the mono mood these days.

I think spring needs to get here soon!

And here was me Malc, just complaining that my wife run too much cold water in my bath.
I think I will need to get a French Maid in who knows how to keep my temperature just right.
But I suppose my wife will insist I wear my speedo's !!
Good chilly shot.
Mick.

That looks like torture, Malc! Everything about the scene says cold and brooding. Sorry about your weather - I hate to make you envious but today, it was like summer here and I took a nature walk without even a sweater! very unusual for this time of year.

Diving in here makes me think of the cartoon character "Road Runner" with a flat top to his head. I'm trying to keep my mind off the thought of you in speedos Malcolm. You've plunged right in here with this marvellous cool image. I suppose a good beating with some twigs would get the circulation back?

The fear of a 10 metre board comes across
The foreboding weather also tells a story
And the symmetry is great.
******
A touch more lighting on the steps
Perhaps a longer focal length lens to foreshorten the view would make it stand out.
Of course it needs some human element on the top board Wink
