12 months ago this spot was a hive of activity heralding the end of a stage of the Tour de France. A year on and it's just a field for cows and an empty road.

I like this, the cows really give an idea of the scale of the poster and the image is restful, almost idyllic.

Excellent spatial and temporal dichotomy, Sandra.

Bernard Hinault le blaireau! He's still quite good looking...
Yes a wonderful composition, the sort of thing that I appreciate - creating a relationship between different elements.

Thanks everyone.

Brilliant comment, Dave though I have to admit to referring to google for your 'temporal dichotomy' comment. - though my O level English goes as far as understanding 'spatial'.
After yours and Mick's comments I'll now never be able to think of the Tour' without thinking of the poor cyclists suffering from 'temporal dichotomy'.

I've never actually experienced the TDF but we have stayed several times in gîtes on regularly-used climbs, and I know the way the atmosphere and memories linger on. This image carries so much weight.
Plus I suspect some very careful processing has gone into it to get the top right corner so perfectly squared off.
It's the picture that I really wish I had taken, which is my usual UA criterion...

Gosh, I'm in the midst of babysitting and only just noticed the UA, Moira.
Wonderful - thank you.
