Hi Suzy. I really like this one. I was told that one of the "rules" was the orientation of where the subject is facing in relation to the space in the photo. Thus if following the rule would mean the couple should face left. But going against the rule made this shot superb. As I am a beginner, would you mind sharing some tips on "rules in breaking the rules".

Hi Jenny. I am a beginner as well, so I dont know if my comment counts I think that was a nice shot. I like close ups against "blurred" backdrops shots like yours as other then being focused on the subject, it also reveals its natural surrounding. However, I have to agree that the backdrop was overexposed thus washed out (or burn out?). I've read an article that suggested bracketing the EV to a lower value and using fill-in flash. Maybe worth experimenting.
