My Grandmother Amelia in the center died in childbirth with my Father Carlo, sadly he never knew his Mother. I guess all families have their own personal tragedy...

Its great to look back at old photographs...I had said to Louise that your name sounded Italian as her mother was a Rizza from Belmonte Castello and every year we always holiday in Italy, well the truth being Louise will not go anywhere else...this year we are in Malcesine in Lake Garda but we have been to most corners of the country...you must tell us more about your roots over a coffee one day. Nice shot with great sentiment.
Ciao Doug.
PS. fancy you spotting us on the moor today...what a waste of time, it was so hostile with blizzard conditions, but at least we tried

I just love old photographs Dougie, your family one is excellent everyone posing well and the children looking very angelic.
Doug told me you had this one on and kindly gave me a wee shot of the computer to write this LOL.
My mother was also Italian so I have some very similar photographs.
Must have a chat next time we meet, wasn't it awful on the moor this morning, I never got out of the car, we did stay out most of the day but although there was light it was very poor.

Just came across this shot having a look through your portfolio, Dougie. It tells a very poignant story. I know Barga well as I lived for several years on the other side of the Appennines in Parma and visited Garfagnana a couple of times, staying there. You're never too far away from a Scots accent in Barga!
