...I decided it was time I posted some monochrome images. A few images some new some posted in colour before. See what you think.
I used the blue channel in Channel Mixer, as suggested by Adrian Wilson. "Thanks Ade".
The mono tones really bring out thedetail and mood of the scene Doug.Terrific shot.
perfect choice of image to convert. very strong realised by the overall balance of tones.
Lovely light and tonal range
Fine mono. Like the light on f/g rock, ice detail & band of cloud.
Some landscapes lend themselves to mono and some don't but it also relies very much on the treatment.
This works beautifully Dougie and has been so well produced. I look forward to more.
Like the details and tones in this - well captured and converted.
Brilliant conversion, works a treat Doug, simply superb. Ron.
Dougie this is better than excellent....you cant half edit a shot
I've been working on a few mono shots, most of the tips are from Ade's work. I do listen to what he says, but I don't think he believes me.
He's very talented Dougie, credit where its due.

I've put it on the image Kin as you were sending this.
Lovely shot well captured this works well mono
Absolutely superb Douglas - very Ansel Adams to me with superb burning and dodging techniques I prosume?
No burning or dodging.
I am not really keen on monochrome shots in this aera of brilliant colours, but you managed to get some real good details in this bonnie picture my friend. The frozen surface of oor wee loch, the drift of mist and the texture in the fg rock are brilliant.
Have then a quiet weekend and a good rest,
Superb, Dougie, the band of cloud below the summits is hauntingly beautiful.
He always gets there ahead of me... Yep, it's that band of cloud. Very effective in mono, and very cold.
Works well in mono Dougie.
Hi Dougie, ive been having a go at useing the channel mixer after reading your post he he ,
you learn something new on here everyday lol,
lovely mono conversion Dougie,
Enjoy the rest of the weakend,,
You can thank Ade the mighty, it's a wonderful tool, I wonder if money was spent at the EX? He was adamant he was buying something from another source, but who knows when you get there on the day?
Stunning work Dougie this really works so vey well
Superb lighting, detail and composition Dougie, a stunning mono conversion.
I'm not a great fan of mono but some images just come alive .... like this one ...the lighting is so amazing and probably shows up better. There's lots of interesting things to look at too. A really beautiful composition Dougie.
The conversion has worked really well, as here it helps to have a great composition and the square format puts you right there, top notch indeed.
This is outstanding Dougie, works incredibly well!!!!
Nicely done too Dougie.
I'd not seen this one Dougie - got a new keyboard and that's taken over my life at the mo
Blue Channel makes an interesting alternative to the 60/40 red/green conversions of tradition.
here it makes the whites of the now and the distant sky seem friendly and inviting
ta for the credit
Wonderful conversion Dougie. Having just upgraded to CS3, I plan to spend more time experimenting with B&W conversions.
That hanging cloud is wonderful Dougie, another great mono, you should do these more
Beautiful detail and great monochrome tones.
