...the clouds were forming good shapes above Black Mount and the ice was clinging to the sides of the loch, a large sheet of ice provided the calm surface for the reflection and I was content to stand and drink in the scene.
Beautiful perspective Dougie, wild Scotland !!
Good morning my "almost neighbour"!
I saw the thumb and knew, it is you! Oor wee lochan really sparkles in its winter beauty. The iced edges, ripples and then, all of a sudden, mirror quality stillness. Superb reflection in that mirror, snow on the hills... simply beautiful!
A beautiful image well taken ,we (I and my good lady ) must make a point this year and visit bonny scotland again
Likyuot composition Dougie, god details and light in this fine view.
All of the above plus what a great POV enabling you to capture the pin sharp reflection of the snowy mountains on the glassy part of the Loch.
Brrr. Lovely winter weather Dougie. Of course you have to get out too to catch the best of it, as you have.
A well taken image Dougie, good composition and pov.
Icy blue stillness. And the Black Mountain is so different in character when it's white!
Such an image shows exactly what might draw you back here time and time again, Dougie: as you say that sheet of flat ice does capture the reflection so well. Once again the winter colours winning over those you'd get in summer.
Scotland is so beautiful cold and colourful. Your photo is perfection.
A naturally beautiful scene that is further enhanced by that pristine reflection.
I wonder if mountains ever get cold feet?
Bill mountains are usually colder at the top that at the foot. I'm guessing they only have the one foot?
The sheet of ice provides a wonderful platform for the reflection and breaks the expanse of water as well. Excellently composed and captured.
Quote: I was content to stand and drink in the scene
What is this life if, full of care.....? I'd have done the same... It's a lovely scene
Beautiful shot Dougie !!!.....bet you can't drink that loch dry, if you were 'drinking in the scene' !!!!.
A great scenery to take a sip of
First thing that drew my attention in the shot was the reflection on the ice. Beautiful shot. Moira
What a beauty in every way
so much to look at ... wow wish I had been there ....
It's just the scene to stand in and wonder Dougie, such an amazing place, beautifully photographed at this frozen moment in time
