...the clouds were forming good shapes above Black Mount and the ice was clinging to the sides of the loch, a large sheet of ice provided the calm surface for the reflection and I was content to stand and drink in the scene.

Good morning my "almost neighbour"!
I saw the thumb and knew, it is you! Oor wee lochan really sparkles in its winter beauty. The iced edges, ripples and then, all of a sudden, mirror quality stillness. Superb reflection in that mirror, snow on the hills... simply beautiful!

All of the above plus what a great POV enabling you to capture the pin sharp reflection of the snowy mountains on the glassy part of the Loch.

Brrr. Lovely winter weather Dougie. Of course you have to get out too to catch the best of it, as you have.

Icy blue stillness. And the Black Mountain is so different in character when it's white!

Such an image shows exactly what might draw you back here time and time again, Dougie: as you say that sheet of flat ice does capture the reflection so well. Once again the winter colours winning over those you'd get in summer.

A naturally beautiful scene that is further enhanced by that pristine reflection.
I wonder if mountains ever get cold feet?

Bill mountains are usually colder at the top that at the foot. I'm guessing they only have the one foot?

The sheet of ice provides a wonderful platform for the reflection and breaks the expanse of water as well. Excellently composed and captured.

First thing that drew my attention in the shot was the reflection on the ice. Beautiful shot. Moira
