...bitter cold and little cloud in the sky, the light was very contrasty (are we ever happy) but after catching my hat about ten times I got serious about th Autumnal colours along the woodland path.

My thoughts entirely, Dougie.
The leaves you have portrayed here look much healthier than our crop, I must say, and the light filtering through them looks good and sweet.

Bill

"Autumn Leaves"......Certainly does what it says on the tin!
Nice one, Dougie.
One of the few occasions where you've maybe had it a bit better, up there in Haggisoland, weather-wise... the colours have been thinned out a bit down here,
what with all the bloody wind!
( But I might fight back with my upload on Saturday! )

Still a nice ''rusty'' colours in the leaves Dougie.
And you should get one of these ''beany'' hats the youngsters wear now.
You can tie it under your chin in the windy weather !!

Normally I want a plain background behind leaves - a sky, a wall maybe, so as not to distract attention from the leaves; or a full-scale view to look through them to. This is unusual because it's about the 50/50 split. I like it, but I'd crop a bit tighter to get rid of the bit of sky at the top and the rock bottom left.

Moira, Mother Nature doesn't always provide what we want as I'm sure you know. The Little Sigma is quite steep learning curve, I was working at f/4 and expected the bg to be softer than it is.
Another lesson learned the hard way.

There is always something very satisfying about a square crop. I do like this, and the way the leaves stand out against the dull tones of the background. I rather like the sky at the top also, as it's colors repeat the colors in the water and pull the image together.
