...taken with the focus set on the boat and no attempt at depth all the way through, the idea was to see the way focus falls away.
***I've just written my first blog, have a look if you will.***
Sharp all the way Dougie, depth retained.
Gorgeous textures and a sad, wistful falling diagonal.
Sharp all the way on my screen too. Especially the frost nibbling at the tips of my toes
Serene despite the chill.
Very nicely composed, and I like the way the downward diagonal in the foreground is mirrored by an upward diagonal on the distant hill.
I don't know how you find so many still and calm waters Dougie. Do you never encounter a wind or even a breeze up there. Another splendid image.
nicely composed and work with the focus Dougie.
This is top notch dougie stunning capture nice one
Wow Andy Thank you very much for that User Award, I'm pleased as punch.
Your eye for a balanced coherent composition comes through again in this image, Dougie. Here with the limited viewing size its hard to see the sharpness fall off.
Very strong composition Dougie; lovely image!
Love the boat Dougie.
Looking very ''peely wally'' !!
Good compo and it is sharp all the way through, like the peeling and the frost on the boat.
Great shot !!.....the frost adds a lovely aura to this beauty !!
Like the frosted texture & the angle of the boat
I cannot see anything wrong with the focus. My eye is drawn to the lovely frost and peeling varnish on the boat.
Really love this Dougie. Very well composed. The shallow dof looks fine on this screen.
Dos'nt look like this boat has been out on the water for a while.
Beautiful patterns and textures on the boat Dougie and a wonderful background.
A fantastic capture Dougie
Two excellent images in one. The lake and bg are beautiful and the frosted boat is just great.
Looks very cold Dougie, like the comp. and clarity.
Agree with all above...great shot
Now can we turn it over please and get out on the water??
Great lesson in focussing to make your subject just that... a lovely shot Dougie, beautifully composed.
Just detectable the focus drops off (and it's still sharper than some uploads I've seen, please don't get me started!).
I don't see why something like this needs to be sharp throughout, so long as the important part is sharp. In fact it's refreshing to see this approach, looks like Mari has said much the same
All that aside, I like this image anyway.
A great and interesting texture on the boat
Now that's a real corker, Dougie. Superb conditions, great focal point, excellent technical decisions and presentation. Have another badge!
Lillian:: many thanks for your User Award, much appreciated. I would be ungallant and let you get in that boat first.
Alun:: Thanks to you too my friend User awards are very special indeed.
