Such a recognisable outline and from this viewpoint it reminds me of a crouching animal: the cloudy overcast allowed diluted sunshine to drape over "the Stac" and it's neighbouring shoulder, somewhat isolating it from the shadowed f/g and b/g.
My eyesight is not good enough to make out if that white spot is a homestead but if so it put's man's efforts into perspective in this landscape.
Love the soft warm winter tones, Dougie.
Definitely another spot in which to tarry, drink in all that beauty and recharge one's batteries.

Bill:- it's the Sphinx of the North of Scotland.

Johann:- I have to say that it was hard work at times too, the weather was totally unpredictable this trip.

Thanks to all some very good comments, it's gratifying when people take the time to think about what they see.

Been up Arthur's Seat a few times many years ago.
Used to be a "Wash your face in the Dew" event every year in May as I recall.

It appears to be a easy mountain to climb. By that I mean, a gradual climb not straight up a rock face. And once at the top it must be wonderful. .....Sandy

The light and colours shout classic Highland scene to me and the brooding sky adds atmosphere. The image has a timeless and very natural feel. Love it Dougie.
