...one of the many highly individual mountains in Assynt on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands.
gorgeous light you've captured here Dougie, thanks for sharing
Such a recognisable outline and from this viewpoint it reminds me of a crouching animal: the cloudy overcast allowed diluted sunshine to drape over "the Stac" and it's neighbouring shoulder, somewhat isolating it from the shadowed f/g and b/g.
My eyesight is not good enough to make out if that white spot is a homestead but if so it put's man's efforts into perspective in this landscape.
Love the soft warm winter tones, Dougie.
Definitely another spot in which to tarry, drink in all that beauty and recharge one's batteries.
Would've loved to have gone up there in the days when my knees actually worked!
That is some exquisite light and one utterly gorgeous view.
Lovely light on that distinctive peak, Dougie. Beautifully captured.
Gorgeous shot !!.....lovely almost 'sinister' mood in this beauty !!
Like a very big pimple on a much larger face. Quirky. Mountains have characters, even little ones.
Quote: from this viewpoint it reminds me of a crouching animal
I second that: it's about to spring away from me
Gorgeous light, certainly a spot to bide awhile.
What a wonderful light on the Stac. You've been very lucky on this trip!
Bill:- it's the Sphinx of the North of Scotland.
Johann:- I have to say that it was hard work at times too, the weather was totally unpredictable this trip.
Thanks to all some very good comments, it's gratifying when people take the time to think about what they see.
Very nice , well taken
I indeed take time with what I see Dougie.
It looks like Arthurs Seat in the BG here,
but I know you are not a cheat to photoshop it in !!
Been up Arthur's Seat a few times many years ago.
Used to be a "Wash your face in the Dew" event every year in May as I recall.
It appears to be a easy mountain to climb. By that I mean, a gradual climb not straight up a rock face. And once at the top it must be wonderful. .....Sandy
A landscape which has inspired many from the greatest writers, poets, painters too photographers and I can see why...
A gorgeous scene enhanced by the lovely light and mist.
Most impressive landscape image with lovely light.
The Rugs first climb up there so it has a special place in my heart.. and I rather like this angle you captured
'speechless' such a magnificent landscape Dougie
The light and colours shout classic Highland scene to me and the brooding sky adds atmosphere. The image has a timeless and very natural feel. Love it Dougie.
The weather might not have been kind to you all the time Dougie but that threatening sky makes a great backdrop to that beautiful mountain.
Stunning Scottish landscape, and what a great place to seek solitude. Beautiful capture Dougie.
The just visible croft gives true scale to the mighty peaks it is sheltering in the shadows of, Dougie.
Lovely light and Mood Dougie.
Beautiful composition and light Dougie..
