...a vertical climb in formation and still natures power looks to be winning. The coloured smoke seemed to fall quicker and the white was left hanging in amongst the clouds across the sky.

A rather stunning aeronautical capture, great detail throughout. A real prize winner.

Different from most we see Dougie..this one being as much about the sky as the machinery.
We are just about there with our move and gongs on.

Excellent comp Dougie, which puts our high tech toys in their place. Like the processing too, which adds mood.

Unusual, I cannot remember seeing an air show composition like this before - most photographers want to go in as close as their lens will allow. This is such a broad, expansive landscape, with the localised explosion of speed looking quite small against the hugeness of nature.

Just as I saw it and visualised it before it happened, the cloud was there for the taking Moira. Wink

You needed a big sky for these chaps, Dougie, and that is what you have given them, plenty of room to climb into: but as you say, man's efforts do look quite small when seen in the bigger context of what nature has to offer.

Fabulous composition and capture, Dougie. The tall mass of cloud on the right forms a great balance for the austere verticality of the vapour trails. Perfectly timed - by them and by you.

Bill

Excellent image Dougie. I really like the way you have composed this. Keeping the tall cloud in on the right gives a nice balance. Using a wider view gives a great sense of scale indicating our size next to these giants of natures creation.

I'm interested in everybody's comments about the composition and although I wouldn't have thought of this myself, agree that it works so well! I love those rings of vapour where they must have put the burners on - what excitement! Smile

Wow!
Not only wonderfully captured the plane formation, but also an amazing sky with superb clouds.
