OK I lied to you... I swore that I wouldn't mention the Olympics again. But we returned to Saltburn last week and the Guerrilla Knitters have been at work again. The Knitted Olympics are even bigger and better than ever.
Plus – they now include the delightful self-portrait of the ring-leader shown in V1. Can I claim a world exclusive for this revelation?
The tell-tale evidence is clear in the cropped V2. A case of caught red-handed if ever there was one.
This is exactly how I have been imagining them all – the Militant Tendency of the WI. She actually reminds me a lot of a member here but I won't name names.
I'm putting all of these up together, they belong together. NB - If you don't have time to look at them all please open V12, it says so much. Whenever the work has been vandalised, the Yarnbombers have always come back and not only replaced but improved.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Well I'm in first with a comment- but I wont be getting a medal for that though WinkWink.
So glad she has knitted herself a gold medal for her efforts SmileSmile
A delightful selection Moira - I love the torch bearers SmileSmile
A lovely tribute in v12 for the determination of this courageous band of knitters [just what do you call a collection of people who knit ????] for carrying on in spite of vandalism - well they have certainly displayed several of the Olympic values

Sums it up perfectly, I think. Thanks folks. The question now is, what do they do to top this??
As a footnote, quite a while ago I read an estimate that this had injected something over £10million into the local economy - people are coming from around the country, and the world. It's so totally joyful and positive.

Glad you like the cave pics; I prefer the first one too, but it is invisible as a thumbnail.

We do see things differently. I spotted the knitter, and bagged her. Bill saw the couch potato (V9) first, but approached the subject differently.
Thanks everyone, I really had better do some housework now...

An enthralling set of images. You cannot help but go on to the next one each time, and each individual image is quite clear as to what it represents, full marks to K.Nitter and to P.Hotographer.

That's a great set of images Moira, a wonderful redhead with the spirit to fight back against the low brain power of the idiots who mindlessly vandalise what they don't understand, let's hope the CCTV camera will catch them.

You've done the lady proud and yourself with this fine bit of PJ on the pier.

The equestrian one is hilarious, these knitters are so clever. I am always amazed at the different types of knitting wool there are on the market these days, and love the way they have used that wonderful orange one for the hair.

These are all fabulous Moira, especially V12 which as you say 'says so much' - Guerilla Knitters - priceless.
My very elderly severely sight impaired Mum (89) still knits for charity (only simple baby blankets etc) and attends the knitting group at the wardened accommodation where she lives.
It always amuses me that she curtails our phone calls with 'I've got to hang up now, it's time for Knit and Natter'! - It's all wool and gossip these days!
kind regards,
Robin

or a new Olympic event with a scoring system for what coloured circle you hit dead centre in !!

I have LOVED going through these. So well captured, Moira...THANK YOU GrinGrin

The yarnbomber is a pretty lass and I absolutely love her hair Smile

And look at the green windsurfer in V7! Very interesting what's going on in the background. That guy is looking at that yellow thing and going, "What do I do with this now? Do I lie on it or chuck it into the sea and float on it?"

V12 is utterly brilliant but for me V9 is the most creative Olympic knitting so far...'cos that's most of us!

A very colourful selection of images that do Great Britain proud, you deserve a gold medal for these Moira. Unfortunately I can not give you one, hopefully a TT award will do! Am I to take it from v1 that Charlie Dimmock is the phantom knitter of old Saltburn town?!Grin
